Day 1: Arrival

When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport at TBA, a Rwego Safaris representative will greet you and take you to your Entebbe guest house. Dinner and lunch are on your own.

Overnight at The Boma Guest house- standard room (BB)
Located 5 to 10 minutes from Entebbe Airport, this hospitable hotel lies on the outskirts of Entebbe. The ancient homestead has been elegantly refurbished and features cozy bedrooms. Every one of them has an own bathroom and is adorned with African motifs. A beautifully designed garden with views of the lake hosts a diners’ bar. A separate dining veranda and sitting room are available for overnight visitors in the main home.

Day 2: Entebbe – Queen Elizabeth National Park (Approx. 470km/7hrs)

The driver guide for Rwego safaris will meet you and take you on a journey west to Queen Elizabeth National Park. After stopping for pictures at the Equator and the Royal Drum Makers on the way, you will have lunch at a neighborhood restaurant in Mbarara and arrive at your lodge late in the afternoon. You will have time to unwind before supper and the night.

Dinner and overnight at Elephant Plains Lodge- cottage (L-D)

Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts a breathtakingly broad range of natural beauty, ranging from sunken crater lakes and marshes to verdant savannah plains dotted with little acacia and euphorbia trees, all enclosed by the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. Ninety-five different species of mammals can be found in the park, including huge forest hogs, lions, elephants, and Uganda Kobs. Furthermore, it boasts the greatest number of bird species of any African national park, with a list of over 600 species! Along the Kazinga Channel’s coast, a natural crossing point between Lake Edward and Lake George, where you can see lots of crocodiles and huge herds of hippos. Tracking chimpanzees is possible in Kyambura Gorge, and Ishasha, the southernmost region of the park, is home to the renowned tree-climbing lions.

Day 3: Game viewing and boat ride

A game drive around the Uganda Kob mating grounds, the Kasenyi plains, starts the day early in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, and other wild animals in their native habitat. After a late breakfast, you will return to the lodge to unwind and take advantage of its amenities until lunchtime. We go on a boat ride via the naturally formed Kazinga Channel in the afternoon, which separates Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is 2-3 km at its broadest points and 33 km in length. The planned two-hour boat journey is 12 to 14 kilometers along the channel, and there is nearly a 100% chance of seeing fantastic wildlife, such as large groups of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and the wallowing buffalo on the reedy banks.

Dinner and overnight at Elephant Plains Lodge- cottage (L-D)

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth NP – Bwindi NP

After breakfast, leave Queen Elizabeth National Park through Ishasha and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the habitat of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs Lodge-cottage (B-L-D)

Approximately half of the 800+ mountain gorillas in the world live in Bwindi
National Park. There’s nowhere better to get up close and personal with these
gentle giants! The population of gorillas has expanded from 300 to 400 in
recent years, with the help of the wildlife conservation program. This includes
nine distinct families that have acclimated to tourists. Nine additional primates
live in the deep forest besides the well-known inhabitants. The park has a
variety of paths, such as the Munyanga River Trail and Waterfall Trail, which
pass through immaculate rainforest and arrive at three brilliant waterfalls.

Day 5: Gorilla tracking

Get up early today and get ready for the most exciting part of your safari—your meeting with the Gentle Giants! After breakfast, make your way to the national park offices, where you will be paired with a gorilla tracking guide and a family of eight gorillas. You drive to the trailhead for the beginning of an exciting adventure after receiving a pre-tracking briefing from your guide that covers information on gorillas in general, your assigned gorilla family, and necessary safety precautions. It can be difficult and require a level of (average) fitness to walk for two to eight hours in steep and occasionally muddy conditions with rain overhead. That being said, the excitement of encountering a massive mountain gorilla silverback more than makes up for the work!

Please remember to bring your passport for registration, appropriate, water proof hiking boots and a light rain coat. To protect from stinging nettles, we recommend long pants and long sleeved tops. A pair of old gardening gloves can help grabbing onto the vegetation while most hotels/lodges provide a walking stick that come in very handy especially when hiking downhill. A small waterproof backpack is an excellent idea to carry a light snack, bottled water as well as protection for your camera.

You get to spend the allotted hour with the gorillas after you spot them, watching them go about their daily lives—feeding, moving, playing, caring for their young, and occasionally even wrestling with the younger ones—it’s an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience!

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
